Unique and wonderful ethical Christmas gifts for her 2020
It’s that time of year again – the Christmas shopping period is upon us. For a lot of people 2020 has made them think about their impact on the planet, as well as the companies they give their money to. Christmas is the ultimate consumerist holiday, so why not support smaller, ethical businesses this year?
Most ethical Christmas gift guides out there will advise purchasing a reusable coffee cup or some soy wax candles. And while those are great and all, I wanted to create a roundup of gift ideas that are gorgeous, magical, and inspiring. These Christmas present ideas are all killer, no filler (apart from stocking fillers, of course). Heck, you’ll probably want all these things for yourself too!
Also, unlike most gift guides (no shade) none of these items are sponsored or affiliate links – they’re just items I think are worth shouting about, and would make an excellent ethical Christmas present for the special people in your life!
There’s infinite categories I considered for this guide, but to keep things simple I’ve kept this particular article about gifts for her. I’ve then split my suggestions into three price categories: under £50, from £51 – £99, and over £100.

Give the gift of style this Christmas with a personal shopping gift voucher
But before we delve into my suggestions from other businesses, I’d be remiss not to give my own services a shout out, with the launch of my Curated by Alice gift vouchers.
I know I may be a little biased (I’m definitely biased) but the services of a personal shopper makes for a pretty excellent Christmas pressie. So instead of more stuff, why not provide the gift of self-confidence and fabulous fashion?
The Curated by Alice service offers a combination of styling advice and shopping picks from ethical clothing brands. This unique product is the perfect present for a wide variety of people, including:
- parents or in-laws who you never know what to buy for
- your partner or BFF who love clothes
- the people in your life who are already into ethical fashion
- loved ones you feel deserve a little confidence boost
The full price for this package is £80, but I’m offering 10% off until Christmas. Use code SAVE10 to claim your discount (this code will work on the regular Curated by Alice package too if you’d like to treat yourself to something nice after all your Christmas gift buying).

Ethical Christmas gifts for her under £50
Literally anything from Yala Jewellery would make for a delightful gift, but if you’re on a budget then the Zero Waste Brass Pendant (£25) is a wonderful pick. Not only is it really striking and a simplistic addition to any outfit, but each pendant is totally unique due to the nature of its manufacture. This is a special piece with a great story behind it.
Ethical slippers are a rarity, so when I came across Shu Da Living I was very excited! Recycled textiles and traditionally manufacturing are key to the designs, and the Jenny Boot Slipper (£39) would be a real treat for cosy feet this Christmas. This style comes in both Blush and Navy Blue.
A scarf is a classic Christmas present, and Miss Pom Pom’s Blanket Scarves (£42) are seriously covet-worthy. A statement scarf instantly makes an outfit, and Miss Pom Pom’s colourful offerings are some of the quirkiest I’ve come across. You could also purchase the matching accessories, although the scarf alone makes for a pretty special (and stylish!) gift.

Ethical Christmas gifts for her £51 – £99
Girlfriend Collective have rightly acquired a cult status for its range of sustainable activewear, but the US brand can be awkward to get a hold of (import tax? No thank you!). Thankfully there are a few ethical fashion boutiques here in the UK that stock the brand, including the brilliant Sancho’s. There’s various colours on offer at Sancho’s, and buying a pair of Girlfriend Collective leggings and a sports bra comes in around £97.
Jewellery is a classic Christmas gift, and designs made from recycled metals are a wonderful sustainable option. Edinburgh-based jewellery design Akvile Su’s collection of recycled sterling silver pieces are exquisite. How about the Drop Earrings (£80) for a modern, versatile gift?
Everyone needs ‘comfies’, and colourful loungewear that both looks good and does good makes for a brilliant Christmas gift. Annabel Brocks’ stylish designs are made in the UK, and include a charitable donation. I’d suggest one of the Rainbow Elbow Patch Designs (£65). Ten per cent of each sale is donated to NHS Charities Together.
I know for me personally, when it comes to Christmas gifts I like to receive something that I wouldn’t buy for myself, but is still utterly fabulous. And what could be more fabulous than a box filled with a different pair of colourful pants for each day of the week? Stripe and Stare’s Days of the Week Knicker Box (£80) is the loveliest of stocking fillers.

Ethical Christmas gifts for her over £100
A watch is a classic Christmas gift that your recipient will love for years to come, so why not invest in an ethical version? Votch is one of the leading vegan watch companies, and its simplistic designs are timeless. I personally would be particularly tickled to receive a Classic Watch with a Piñatex strap (£135). It’s vegan leather made from pineapple leaves, people!
As a woman, I cannot stress to you enough the value of a well-made, versatile handbag! But finding an ethical handbag company that doesn’t charge a fortune for its products is hard to come by. So I was excited to come across From Belo, which works with Fair Trade artisans to craft handbags and accessories from recycled materials. I recommend the Black Ju Bucket Bag (£190) as it’s spacious and can be worn four different ways.
There’s something special about lounging about in some luxury PJs. Bamboo is one of the softest (and cosiest!) fabrics there is, and therefore is perfect for sleepwear. I love the funky design of Asquith’s Tiger Pjs Set. The top and bottoms are sold separately, and come in at £138 for both.
Have yourself a very ethical Christmas, folks!
