Hello October! It’s crazy that it’s that time of year again.
This month, I’m challenging myself to have more self-confidence.
‘More confidence?’, I hear you ask. ‘The girl with the orange hair needs more confidence?’
Well the reality is, yes I do. This year has been a great one for finding my personal style, but after a crazy few weeks (I’ll share all the gossip shortly) I feel like I’m back to square one when it comes to confidence in climbing up the career ladder.
Buuut deep down I know I’ve got this. I just need to take time to remind myself.
Here’s some of the ways I’m going to get back to my A-game this October-
This probably sounds like a really obvious one, but I do struggle to find the will to leave the house once the days get shorter (and the weather gets colder!). However, I find I am at my most successful when I’m making the most of every opportunity, personal and social, and keep my diary full. On that note, if any of you fancy a coffee or a blog collab then do drop me a message!
As I enter the world of freelance journalism, I’m going to have to work even harder than usual just to get paid (yikes!) so this month I’m going to make the effort to pass out those business cards and email editors looking for opportunities. You don’t ask you don’t get, right? In the past I’ve felt a bit uncomfortable putting myself out there, but I’m slowly learning that we’re all just people, and people are generally nice to you if you’re nice to them.
Ask for help
I’m so bad for keeping everything under my (cute, bobbly) hat but this month I’m going to make sure I ask for help when I’m struggling. Whether I’m having a bad day and need a virtual hug from my friends, or if I’m after career guidance from potential mentors, I’m going to stop feeling ashamed to ask for help.
What are you doing for yourself this month? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
