Scotland has always taken a backseat when it comes to fashion, often being overlooked for the glamour of London.
Yet for the past several years, a small group of passionate and ultra-stylish individuals have been working hard to change that. Presenting Edinburgh Fashion Week 2016- the biggest and best yet.
This weekend saw the launch with a marquee on the mound, filled with pop-up shops, fashion workshops, panel discussions and fashion shows from some of Edinburgh’s best loved shops, big and small.
Saturday’s shows included presentations from Jenners and House of Fraser, George Street shops and specialist boutiques from the West End. Sunday’s schedule included shows featuring Prices Street’s best loved brands, John Lewis and the renowned Edinburgh College of Art Postgraduate show.
I headed down for the Saturday afternoon to soak up the atmosphere and to see the West End show.
I managed to get my hands on a VIP ticket, which also included access to the Anta VIP lounge. Us bloggers gathered en masse to enjoy champagne and fabulous goodie bags- the best freebie had to be the miniature of Edinburgh Gin (because free alcohol is the best alcohol).
The Edinburgh bloggers are a lovely bunch, and if you’re keen to join the crew you can get involved here.
We enjoyed front row seats at the West End show, so got a clear view of the action. This included designs from Just G, accessories from Hogarth, stunning lingerie and swimwear from Odyssey Boutique and some plus-sized fashion from Marina Rinaldi.
Even if you missed the launch weekend, there’s still plenty of opportunity to get involved in the action.
A selection of exclusive in-store events and unique shopping opportunities will be happening across the city, with celebrations coming to an end with the Edinburgh Charity Fashion Show at The Biscuit Factory on 11 and 12 March.
